We embrace the why
Swiss Open Leaf Academy builds on a child-centered, holistic philosophy

Our Philosophy
Rooted in the Swiss heritage of Pestalozzi, Piaget, and Fratton, Swiss Open Leaf Academy fosters self-determined, curious and independent thinkers

Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi
"Educate the whole child: Head, Heart and Hand"
Pestalozzi believed that every child - regardless of background or ability - deserves an education that nurtures intellect, emotion, and practical skill in equal measure. At SOLA, this means we never reduce a child to test scores. We attend to who they are as thinkers, as feelers, and as doers - building cognitive strength alongside emotional resilience and real-world competence

Jean Piaget
"Learning by doing, growing at their own pace"
Piaget showed us that children actively construct their own understanding through experience - and that genuine learning follows a child's own developmental readiness, not an arbitrary timetable. At SOLA, we meet every student where they are. Our individualized learning plans, project-based curriculum, and mixed-age groups reflect Piaget's insight: deep knowledge is built from the inside out

Peter Fratton
"Learning happens in dialogue - between child, teacher, and the world"
Peter Fratton pioneered the idea of school as a living, dialogic community, where self-directed learning and meaningful relationship are inseparable. At SOLA, students don't just receive knowledge; they co-create it. Through reflection journals, collaborative projects, and genuine conversation with educators and peers, our learners develop the self-awareness and agency that gifted and 2E children especially need to thrive
Our Educational Foundation
Optimized Learning Environment
Collaborative Network
We offer a supportive and structured environment. The school's layout and classrooms are intentionally designed for gifted and 2E students. Within the structure we enable flexibility based on the individual needs of the students.
Interconnectedness of everyone involved is vital in a student's academic success and overall wellbeing. This is achieved through close collaboration between parents, teachers, students, and experts.
Community and Belonging
Our school is a place where students feel safe and understood, creating a community where social relationships are the source of inspiration and collaboration.
Research-Based Education
We are committed to using evidence-based and evidence-informed practices for our educational methods by collaborating with leading international experts and specialized universities.
What we offer

1
Standard curriculum
We offer flexible curriculum options: you can either choose our bilingual track, Swiss Lernplan 21 in German and an International curriculum in English or a monolingual track in either language
2
Additional Project-Based Education
We supplement the traditional curriculum with complex, interdisciplinary projects that encourage students to explore their intellectual, physical, and artistic boundaries
3
Life Skills Toolbox
We recognize that high intellect doesn't guarantee social or emotional fluency. Therefore, our specialized interdisciplinary team supports students to build their personal "toolbox" of life and learning skills to cultivate resilience and self-awareness
