Foundation’s Role
The SOLA Foundation acts as the guardian, sponsor, and long-term steward of the Swiss Open Leaf Academy (SOLA) and related educational initiatives.
It bridges the worlds of education, research, and social responsibility, ensuring that innovative learning opportunities remain accessible to all who can benefit from them.
How the foundation operates
Educational innovation
Supports the development and testing of new pedagogical approaches, learning technologies, and life-skills programmes
Capacity-building
Funds teacher training, professional development, and leadership programmes for educators and school staff
Research and evaluation
Collects and analyses data to measure impact and continuously improve educational outcomes
Governance
SOLA Foundation is a Swiss charitable foundation under Articles 80 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, registered in the Canton of Schwyz and supervised by the cantonal foundation authority.
It is governed by a Board of Trustees of at least three members, the majority of whom are independent of the school’s operational management.
The Board:

defines strategy, approves budgets, and decides on grants

appoints and oversees management and auditors (if applicable)

ensures compliance with investment, remuneration, and conflict-of-interest regulations

submits annual reports and accounts to the supervisory authority

Relationship with the school
The foundation is the majority shareholder of Swiss Open Leaf Academy AG but is not involved in its daily management.
A formal SLA defines objectives, key performance indicators, budgets, and reporting obligations for each academic year.
It covers topics such as safeguarding, data protection, compliance, and audit rights, ensuring accountability and independence:
