Who are we?

The SOLA Foundation helps high-potential learners. By investing in gifted education, we invest in a brighter, more compassionate future.

Our Vision

We envision a world where high potential students can flourish, where their unique educational needs are met, understood, challenged, and they are inspired to make a difference.

Our mission

Our approach, and strategic objectives are outlined below:
Access

Expand opportunities for gifted learners through scholarships and by supporting schools dedicated to meeting their unique educational needs.

Innovation

Fund and pilot researched based educational models, diagnostics, and teacher training.

Awareness

Advocate for greater societal understanding of giftedness as a spectrum of needs and strengths.

Community

Build networks of parents, educators, and experts to share best practices and mentorship.

Impact

Use researched based evaluation to measure long-term developmental, academic, and social outcomes to refine and scale effective approaches.

Our Philosophy

What we believe and what we value is summarized in these guiding principles:

Whole-child development

We embrace a holistic, child-centred approach where intellectual growth is nurtured alongside emotional, social, and ethical development.

Equity and inclusion

Every gifted learner deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of background, circumstances or resources.

Innovation & Research based approach

We promote innovative and evidence-informed educational approaches.
Our initiatives are grounded in research and evidence-based practice, ensuring that innovation is guided by proven impact and measurable outcomes.

Empowering individual potential through education

The SOLA Foundation exists to promote education and equal opportunities.
Its purpose is to ensure that every learner receives individualised support, with special attention to highly gifted and highly sensitive children.

The foundation is strictly non-profit. All resources are dedicated to its educational mission, and private or self-serving benefits are expressly excluded.

To fulfil this purpose, the foundation may:

  • support and finance schools and educational programmes

  • award scholarships, grants, and educational loans

  • fund diagnostics, learning analyses, and individual learning plans (ILPs)

  • promote research, development, and innovation in education

  • hold shareholdings in educational entities (notably Swiss Open Leaf Academy – SOLA AG) or invest in facilities, infrastructure, and intellectual property that serve its mission

The foundation views learning as a lifelong process in which academic growth, emotional intelligence, creativity, and well-being are equally valued.

Its educational philosophy is rooted in three pillars:

  1. Evidence-based methods – educational and psychological research guide classroom practice and support strategies

  2. Personalised pathways – each student follows an individual learning plan built around strengths, interests, and needs

  3. Inclusive excellence – learning environments are designed to recognise diversity, foster empathy, and enable all learners to thrive

A holistic approach

Beyond academics

The SOLA Foundation supports a form of education that prepares children not only to achieve, but also to contribute meaningfully to society.

Its vision is to empower independent thinkers who combine curiosity with responsibility, and to nurture a generation that is empathetic, and capable of positive impact.
